We felt privileged to spend an eventful three and a half days rafting, trekking and camping inside the Periyar Tiger Reserve. The Reserve itself comprises spectacular scenery and we saw and experienced many animals at close hand – herds of bison, wild boar, some wonderful birds of many species, elephants, tortoises and certainly evidence of the elusive tiger! But we will remember most the fabulous food cooked by our guides, having a face-off with a herd of elephants who were not at all impressed that we were camping on their hill, trying to sleep through torrential rain and subsequently a river running through our tent and running for our lives from an understandably enraged female sloth bear who thought us hiding from her meant we were hoping to harm her two cubs. We hope most sincerely that the Reserve continues to be protected as it is now and treasured by the people of India. We wish Touromark every success in its work to provide education and preservation for the future.
Thank you for arranging a unique once-in-a-lifetime trip for us!
Best wishes to you all,
Elizabeth and Ivan Brooking

Had an excellent day at Gavi. Thanks to our great guides and their skill we were able to spend one hour in the jungle looking at elephants. The guides were very helpful and enthusiastic. The food was excellent. Beautiful haven in the deep of the jungle.
We would recommend to people to go there on the overnights trip.

Had a great two days and two nights stay at Gavi. One day trek in the jungle and slept in the jungle. Many birds & butterflies but not too many animals. By rare chance we saw a leopard but this was the second sighting in two years. Saw monkeys & bison.
The place is very tranquil and friendly. Good food and nice management.

We have to thank Mr Murali for recommending the raft trip to us. We had a wonderful day in a very peaceful setting. We had the good fortune to see many animals eg. 2 leads of elephants with their young, langur monkeys, samber deer, giant malabar squiral, bison and among the birds we saw cormorant hornbill, heron, kingfisher, kites (Brahmin), Snake bird. We enjoyed the food, which was prepared by the guides. The guides were well informed and had a keen eye for spotting the animals.

Today was Bamboo rafting and it was a great experience. There groups of elephants. Monkeys, Birds, Deer, Bison& Pigs. We could not have a seen for more unless it was a Tiger. For us it was necessary to visit both Gavi (see above) and the main reserve(Bamboo Rafting) to truly experience Periyar. They are very different and to miss either one is to miss the true reserve. We will return.

Listen to the voices,
Birds, elephants and other animals
And most important thing
The people of India!
The park guides was wonderful
Kind and helpful, listen to every

I want to thank to the crew from
Touromark for being so gentle and kind
